Dubai 2 - skiing and the souks

Another day, another trip - this time to swim with the dolphins! But alas, it was all booked up and sold out. Probably just as well, would have cost an arm and a leg. And you need an arm to hold onto the dolphin.
We headed to the souks to shop around. To get there we caught a river shuttle to the other side for abour R1. Cool.
The souks were a series of small shops and as with Tunisia, everything seems very dodgy, like people are trying to sell you something illegal... the number of times people go "Psst... pashmena. Psst, want a watch" etc is staggering.

Here's a gold souk. Don't get any ideas Cath.

Only once we'd taken lil Emma to the doctor and found out she had an ear infection did this photo make sense... poor little thing was probably struggling with her ears here, as mom looked at postcards.

Around town.

And back via boat.

This time it was dad's turn to act as cushion for a tired little Emma, who only wanted to sleep, as long as it was in someone's arms.

And so to skiing.

For those that don't know, the arabs built themselves a ski slope in the middle of a mall. So it can be 40 degrees outside and you can head to the mall to ski on the snow.

The view down, from halfway up. Mall (second floor) at the bottom.

Cath ahead on the ski lift.

Mom and daughter heading up.

Haven't lost any of our skill from Italy.

All in all we skiied, we skied, we skid, we ski'd - nothing looks right - we enjoyed skiing for two hours. Cath's dad had hurt his leg recently so he babysay while we went off. The advantage of indoor skiing - we did it at night - 7 to 9pm.

That hat - it can only be... SuperCath!

Mom skis on.

Mom and I ready to take the plunge.

Good times. Thanks Cath, for cutting me in half!

Pro? I think so.

These following four are a series, a progression, if you like, documenting my wife's extrems skiing skill.
