November bobs with broken leg

It took a while, but Emma began to stand up and put pressure on her leg. The doc said she would when it no longer hurt her and obviously that was it... she'd wanted to walk but just couldn't.

So as soon as she could stand up again, it was back to her old habits... attacking the fridge magnets.
How cute is that cast huh?

Cath took these pics obviously. One random night, Emma demanded I lie down next to her. She does that quite often after story time, but normally tells me to go away after five minutes of tickles on her back and stomach. This time though, I ... may have dozed off. cath loved the arm symetry.

Story time with granny Fi!

Had my old school friends and kids around for a braai during November too. Great to catch up after so long... even if Armand's Michael Daniel and Steven's Patrick did battle for supremacy most of the day.

Emma was a happy camper.

Cath took these photies to show Emma's bedtime habit of tucking her teddy, dollie and pig up for the night. They're so important to her that she gives them pride opf place, sacrificing her own pillow to give them the treatment they deserve.

Then, when we decided to take Emma for a walk around the neighbourhood one day, she decided she needed a few friends along for the trip. Cath had to break it to her that there just wasn't room on Daddy's back. So she settled for just dollie.

Supper - by Alan valkenburg, aged 33 and a half.
And a strawberry tongue - by Emma Valkenburg, aged two and a bit.

And Emma takes to her black motorbike in our passage.

nov - tea and horses

Emma's broken leg didn't stop her getting out and about, and she was talking to the horses, swinging on the , well, swing, and drinking hot chocolate at a local horse farm (paddock) when we went out for afternoon tea with some our friends and their kids.

Mmm. Hot choc!

Mom was looking as gorgeous as ever, and starting to show (pregnant).

Emma was eager to see the horses close up, and in particular, a pony.

But what she REALLY wanted was the swing...

Now dear old dad was a real plonker here... I was pushing Emma and she was having a ball, so I moved around to the front to see her smile. Then, when she came towards me, I started tickling her neck each time she neared me. She did that cute thing where you tuck your head into your neck to stop being tickled there and giggled.
And then, the fifth time or so, she let go of the rope.
Doh.
Wipeout.
So cue snot n trane but fortunately I wasn't pushing her too hard.

Any way, she was soon on again. She just loves it.

She wasn't the only one who loved it. Tomas liked it too, but he wouldn't go without mom or dad.
Toughen up dude!

There's our Emma, back on again!

And one more look at the horses on our way out...

Trip on the train to the beach

Of course, there was a bit of confusion about the train times, so we ended up waiting about half an hour for one
(overseas people, this is not unusual)

Wow... what a view... the sea!

Enjoying the 'luxury' of First Class.

Once at Fish Hoek, we couldn't play in the sand (leg cast) but we made the most of the trip by playing on the swings, slide and see-saw, and having a great lunch.

Then it was Mommy's turn to hold lil one on the way back....

Emma is already wanting her next train trip!

Painting in the garden

But before we get to the painting, look at my pretty clips....

Cath organised this, and as usual, Cath loved it.
Outside in the sun, November. Hey, if you have great weather, you have to take advantage...

Look at my dirty hands!!!

All my own work! What a life.

The World according to Valkenburg

As if Facebook, gmail and hotseminakedswedishblondes.com weren't taking up enough of my time, now I'm writing a blog!

Oh well - it just goes to show - any idiot can write a blog.
