You may have heard, little Emma broke her leg in October...
She fell off the slide at playschool, we don't really know how it happened, but we arrived to pick her up and it had obviously just happened... she was in the reception area with ice on her leg and there was a nasty bump.
We took her off for X-rays and it was confirmed - both bones in her lower leg - the tibia and fibula were snapped in two. One of them was basically in a V shape. I nearly puked when I saw the X-ray myself.
My poor little baby - being so brave while that is going on inside her!
So she got a temporary cast and we got the name of an orphapeadic surgeon guy to go to the next day...
In the meantime though, life had to go on as normal... although Emma is always a bit of a pain when she's sick or hurt... she wasn't so bad though (time deletes the bad memories).
The doctor scheduled us in for theatre the next day... she had to go under general, cos her leg needed to be set... too hectic to do with a consious patient. so Emz was in this cast for two days (no doubt in pain) before she was eventually sorted out.
Operating day... the patient was sore but excited.
But Mom, and let's be honest here, looked like a dork.
Only one parent was allowed through. Cath took the honours... I said I couldn't handle it if she was put in pain. Cath is cold-hearted, so no prob for her.
But I did get a cuddle first. Had to take advantage of her cuddle-ability while I could.
Ah, this is the life.. being wheeled around, free food.
Checking out...
And a moerse groin to toe cast to deal with for, we were originally told, six weeks.
It was one of the worst breaks the doctor had seen in a child. So he said six weeks.
It ended up being four weeks though.
She's all better now though.
