Sleeping baby

These were taken over the fence at our St Catherine's Rd house... the neighbours got a new puppy and we couldn't resist taking a peek... and Oh so cute!

Nala, alas, also no more, guards Emma while

mom and dad do some weeding or other important stuff.

Sometimes you just have to try and grab a bit of sleep - whether the baby cares or not.

Emma generally refuses to lie down on Cath. But this time I think she allowed Cath a few minutes of bonding time.

I know a photo doesn't do this .......... but this is how Emma sleeps. No she isn't moving, her hands stay like that while she sleeps. I think she's dreaming of the paparazzi - "No photos, please, no photos".

I said NO PHOTOS!

A few more of lil Emma

This was us when we moved into the Heany castle... a mess of clothes and boxes and crap all over the place... and somewhere in the middle, ababy that was still hungry and didn't care about the mess as long as she got fed.

Our dorky lil child.

She was quite happy here... and I liked her clothing choice so I snapped these despite her dorky facial expression. Hey, at least she isn't screaming.

What else... Oh yes, the Boks won the Tri-nations. This is how we do rugga in South Africa. Everyone gathers at a friend's place - the one with the biggest TV. Rory's parents win that one hands down - they project the game onto the white wall behind us. You can probably just see John Smit lifting the trophy behind us.

This is a random photo, but I was sad and had to snap it to remember in years to come. These are my (alas no-more) slippers that Cath bought me when we were just going out. They're full of holes and past their best so I had to throw them out. But they rocked.

Cath didn't really want me taking these as lil Emma was screaming like a banshee. But as that point I didn't have photos of the grandparents with Emma so I took the pics anyway. Emma is far from happy about it though.

Bathtime...
This is the bloody Queen-bee parking-off in her bath...
Waking Emma up from a nap...

A few posters

These are quite old now, but they still make me chuckle when I walk past them on the stairs at my work.

They're from when my newspaper, The Cape Argus, revamped a while back...

I've never seen Bush, Blair and Mugabe looking like this but change is always good.

Uncle Bob Mugabe

Tony Blair

George Dubya

This one however isn't funny, and sickens my stomach every time I see it.
It's up at Cape Town station several times.

Attack at granny and grandpa's place

My dad got attacked. Police are still looking for a two-year-old boy with curly hair. He was dressed in veldskoen and was wearing a nappy under blue tracky pants.

There was a witness to the incident, but she's not saying anything to the cops for fear of reprisal...

Her mom tried to give her councelling.

To save Cath from a similar attack, Jonty the wonderdog was on guard while Cath fed the baby in the corner of the room. Cath seemed to be distracted though, by goings on at the lounge table. Mmm, chocolate cake...

Another attacker, the lesser-spotted non-tanned South african, made an appearance and tried to gain revenge on the previous assailant, getting him ready for a WWF-style body slam.

Dominique was, quite frankly, quite shocked by the violence.

She was councelled again, this time by Granny.

The attacker tried to show his good side by giving little Emma a
hug (and nearly smothering her).

And then Dad did likewise, which she seemed to like.

But it was all too much for dad who conked out.

Granny then tried to cheer Emma up after the scares of the day.

Inter-varsity rugby

Inter-varsity rugby: UCT (my former university) versus Stellenbosch (my former university).

There's nothing these guys like more than beating each other up on the rugby field.
I don't think I've ever watched a game of rugby featuring UCT if Stellenbosch wasn't involved but Cath and I used to watch Stellenbosch (Maties) every Wednesday when we studied there together in 2002.

There was young blond boy playing for them back then and we knew the boy was destined for greatness. His name was Schalk Burger and he was awesome - he really stood out. Two years later he was not just SA's player of the year, he was the INTERNATIONAL player of the year.

Well this time we saw a young cetre by the name of Paul Bosch. And I reckon he's got good times ahead of him. He'was called up to Western Province soon after to play against Boland and played really well actually.

For the record, Carly, Marc, Rory, Ian, Emma, Big Dave and I went along to the game, after a few boerie rolls at the Heany castle. At the agme we caught up with Trevor and Aimee and watched from on high. Cath babysat.

Obviously the gang was there just for the atmosphere, but there wasn't a lot of that - it was the last game of the season and a bit of a dead rubber. A bit of an anti-climax actually.

For UCT, they like to throw around the line "we know how to party better than they (Stellies)do" after they've been soundly beaten - but the truth is that parties are always that much better after a win - and Maties, once again, klapped UCT - 31-13 - or something like that.

Swimming and Carryn

babies get bathed in, like, jackuzi-temperature water. So I TOLD CATH Emma wouldn't like the 20 degree pool. But Cath wanted to try anyway.

What happened?

Oh I think you can guess.

Going...

going...

going...

gone!

--------------------------------

Cath didn't take a lot of photos at Carryn's baby shower, but this one stuck out. Cath apparently had a ball, but by the sounds of things, Carryn had a lot more fun!

The World according to Valkenburg

As if Facebook, gmail and hotseminakedswedishblondes.com weren't taking up enough of my time, now I'm writing a blog!

Oh well - it just goes to show - any idiot can write a blog.
