Inter-varsity rugby

Inter-varsity rugby: UCT (my former university) versus Stellenbosch (my former university).

There's nothing these guys like more than beating each other up on the rugby field.
I don't think I've ever watched a game of rugby featuring UCT if Stellenbosch wasn't involved but Cath and I used to watch Stellenbosch (Maties) every Wednesday when we studied there together in 2002.

There was young blond boy playing for them back then and we knew the boy was destined for greatness. His name was Schalk Burger and he was awesome - he really stood out. Two years later he was not just SA's player of the year, he was the INTERNATIONAL player of the year.

Well this time we saw a young cetre by the name of Paul Bosch. And I reckon he's got good times ahead of him. He'was called up to Western Province soon after to play against Boland and played really well actually.

For the record, Carly, Marc, Rory, Ian, Emma, Big Dave and I went along to the game, after a few boerie rolls at the Heany castle. At the agme we caught up with Trevor and Aimee and watched from on high. Cath babysat.

Obviously the gang was there just for the atmosphere, but there wasn't a lot of that - it was the last game of the season and a bit of a dead rubber. A bit of an anti-climax actually.

For UCT, they like to throw around the line "we know how to party better than they (Stellies)do" after they've been soundly beaten - but the truth is that parties are always that much better after a win - and Maties, once again, klapped UCT - 31-13 - or something like that.

As if Facebook, gmail and hotseminakedswedishblondes.com weren't taking up enough of my time, now I'm writing a blog!

Oh well - it just goes to show - any idiot can write a blog.
