March 29 - up to date

And now, as of March 29, let the record show that I have no photos on my cameras or computers that still need to be posted onto this blog. In other words, I am up to date, done and klaar.

However, seeing as the days and weeks and months seem to pass in such a blur, it will no-doubt be September tomorrow and I will be horribly out of date again.

Never-the-less, for now I am current and so with smugness in my step and glee in my grin, I wish you all a very happy Easter.

March bits n bobs

This photo was taken before our holiday.... the dogs dug up a flowerbed, sending plants flying and sand into the pool, and leaving a 60cm deep hole. I filled it in and built an impenetrable barrier of bench, wooden stakes and trellis creeper at the far end of the path.
Party at the Spur (Spur) for Emma's classmate Michaela.

A mad hatter's party for one of Chloe's friends.
I don't have a lot to say about this one as I missed it, having to work on Saturdays and all, you know. Sigh.

Gotta admire their kid's taste though.... beer. I. want. one.

Chloe playing and meeting friends. And Emma.

Chloe in a dress at home, looking gorgeous, as usual.

And is this Chloe's first kiss? I t could just be. She hasn't quite mastered the whole 'close your mouth and put your lips together' thing, but who am I to judge? Love is... huh?

And so, having filled the hole in and gone away on holiday, I returned to find this... a new hole, bugger and deeper than before. Sand everywhere. While we were away, we payed our neighbour to feed and walk the dogs... and this is how they reward me? So much for my impenetrable barrier of death and pain. Next time I will let them loose, methinks. Or electrify the flowerbeds.

Jongensfontein family holiday

I put these up on facebook, so sorry if you've seen them before.

These were taken at our around jan and Louis' holiday house in Jongensfontein, near Stilbaai.
They built it from scratch and are very proud of it.

This was Emma and Dominique riding on the bikes inside the property. The one Emma is on was too heavy for her to ride uphill to the gate so she got off and lugged it up the hill to the gate, got on and turned it around so she could coast down like her cousin. Shame man, it was quite an effort. I was out of sight (up on the roof) taking these pics, and I just wanted to help her, but she showed her determination and got the job done. The pic on the right is soon after, the girls playing together.

From the roof, the sunrise view.

On one of the days we headed off to some rockpools and a natural tidal pool where we played. The girls caught starfish (Emma) and decorated themselves with mud (Dom).

And built a castle on a low rock. Chloe ate some mud and played with mom.

Mom and Emz.

Chloe checking out her surroundings, then toddling off.

The next day, we went to another beach, one with a stream flowing down to the sea, and we made a dam. Lil Louis shows off our handiwork proudly. The girls made friends with some other kids.

Back at the house, Emma and Dom snuggle up with cath to watch The Little Mermaid. A family favourite. I watched it with Cath about a dozen years ago before I asked her to go out with me, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it. The photo on the right is of Dominique and Emma in the top bunk together, when they should have been fast asleep ages before - in separate beds! Naughty fish!

Walking to the beach... quite a family. And woohoo, we're there! Time to catch fishies in the rockpools!

Nicholas also tried. The girls got up to their own business.

Our lift home.

Back at the beach with the stream, Emma and Louis showed off their jumping skills, and Cath her photography skill, by leaping from this tallest jump in the world (approx 80cm high). Still chuffed with my girl for doing it. No wuss, this girl.

Another day, another beach. We built racecars and a buss, and the kids raced and made the noises.

Dominique flirted with danger, but ran away just in time. Emma watched on.
Below: bath time. "There were four in the bath and the little one sid..."
And Chloe and Nico play together, swapping dummies.

Cath and I decided to try and keep Chloe awake a bit longer than normal, so as to get her to sleep in the car. Well 'a bit longer' turned into quite longer and then too long so that when we did eventually get into the car, she passed out before we had taken our second corner. She then slept for about 2 and a half hours. Bliss. Emma fought it but eventually couldn't resist and fell asleep too.

Ballet outfit and a car break-in

Proud daddy time....

Been showing Emma how to write 'E's and 'M's for a while and we finally put them together with 'A' and we wrote her name together. Then, the next day I think, she wrote her name all by herself. Since then, I can't stop her doing it!
It's not easy to write on the etch n sketch either.

And then this... this gave me a grin a mile wide. Cath got Emma a ballet outfit which Emma immediately put on, only took off for her bath, put it straight back on, slept in it, and then argued with Cath the next day because mom said she couldn't go to school in it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

My car got broken into. I know this happens to a lot of people, but we're quite careful about never leaving anything remotely valuable in our car so it was quite unexpected. To rub salt in the wound, I was taking Cath's car that day - to take it to the garage to be fixed - so she was using my car.
Then she returned it like this!

And what pray tell, did they get? A casette player/radio. No. I'm not joking. That's what the F@#$wit stole.
Do they make those anymore? The eejit probably got R20 for it.

In fact, he did such a shitty job at it that he must have cut himself as he left blood all over the car, and on napkins that he left on the seats with the broken glass.

Note tape in photo below - it has a wire that goes from tape to MP3 player and allows you to play your MP3 via the casette player. I think it's probably more valuable than the radio - and they left that.

His blood inside my car (below). The police should be able to suse that you say? Don't hold your breath.

The World according to Valkenburg

As if Facebook, gmail and hotseminakedswedishblondes.com weren't taking up enough of my time, now I'm writing a blog!

Oh well - it just goes to show - any idiot can write a blog.
