18 August
So there are tons of those "50% off deals" going around on the various websites these days, and Cath jumped at the cahnce for us to go to stay in a fancy shmancy 5 star hotel near Franschhoek for two nights.
It was quite unexpected, but she knew I'd booked a few days off and so went ahead... vey cool.
Cath's sis looked after little one for the two days - what a star. Lil Emma goes to day care from 8 till 5 and is in bed at 7 so it wasn't too much, but "Aunty" wasn't prepared for the 5.30 wake-up call!
We, meanwhile, enjoyed a tour of a chocolate factory, a nice Belgian one.
And of course there was a bit of sampling...
Then to the hotel... and our room, top left.
"Pookums, are you sure we didn't order any caviar? I could do with a morsel."
Please, who am I fooling. It wasn't 30 minutes and the Uno cards had come out.
But being a fancy hotel, there was lots to do. We headed for the4 indoor spa pool to refresh before supper.
As usual, your's truly, a picture of class.
A bit of lounging around in those chairs that massage you. "Hey, easy there chum!"
Before a steak supper.
Next morning, great breakfast.
And then an hour-long massage. Cath went for the mum to be massage, and I went for the marula wood massage. I thoughjt about proposing to the girl who massaged me for a minute or two, especially since she pulled my pants so low, I thought she was up to something naughty.
Then we headed to the area where you soak your feet in hot water and then freezing water,
and back. It left our feet bright red... whew. T'was hot alright.
After that we pottered around and went out for supper to a cool pizza place in Franschhoek, nearly got killed on the drive there mind you. Have to be alert on the SA roads!
My stunning girl.
Fish nibbles. Small imported fish apparently nibbled the kak dead skin off your feetand do something really awesome for you. Don't ask me, I think it's a way for rich people to throw away their money personally, but I had a 1 hour treatment free with the deal so used 15 minutes of it on this...
The little buggers really took to me.
"The pirhanas liked his toe jam the most."
Then on the way home, a stop-off at the most awesome putt-putt course in the world. I'd played here before though, so I had the advantage. And on this course, knowledge is quite an advantage.
All in all, a bloody good anniversary trip. Thanks Cath!
