And she got stuck.
First of course came the pain... Cath was going the natural route, no epidural, but was enduced as her gynae was going on a holiday the next day. So there was a bit of a rush, an induction and a vastly speeded up labour. Last time out, with Emma, the pain was spread out over about 30 hours. This time, about 2. Why can't Cath just ever be normal? On the graphs above... the bottom chart = contractions. Serious contractions.
So she got stuck and Cath had to be cut to get her out. Owch. Problem was Chloe's shoulder... it got wedged in there. So the doc was basically pulling on her neck to get her out and just couldn't. I couldn't believe how rough he was being... but he told us afterwards he thought it was touch and go whether she would make it.... so he must have been freaked out.
Anyway, out she popped after the cut, I cut the cord, and away they took her... but she refused to cry... which as a parent with a newborn, you desperately want to hear. The doc and the pead were talking about whether she had a broken arm or torn nerves in her shoulder and I was just thinking... is she alive? Will she make it? It was ages before she finally cried... but all was fine... her arm is filep... but they tell us it will come right in about 6 weeks.
And... a sigh of relief.
So bring on the visitors...
Ag cute man...
So welcome to the world little Chloe... we obviously didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, but Cath and I both admitted that we secretly wanted another girl - now they can play together, share a room, etc ... so smiles all round!
