The Argus versus the world...

Okay, maybe not the world, but the other media then.

The Argus - the newspaper I work for - put together a team to take part in the cricket challenge in aid of charity. It was quite a lot of fun.

Zelim, our rugby writer, and Ally, our results expert.

Zelim faded - he didn't play but Ally gave the bat a swing.

This was the set-up and our team, comprising my boss Lindiz, and guys from the Cape Times, our sister paper.

Ally hits out and steals a single in the first game.

We played fiver games in all and won 3. I sat out the first one which we lost so my record, as I told the team, was bloody good at 80% success.

In the first game I played I scored about 10 off an over not out, hit the winning runs and took a wicket.

In the second game I didn't bat and went for about 10 in my over.

In my third game I didn't bat and went for 25 in my over! Ouch. I kept watching the ball go over my head. That was the game we lost.

In the last game I played wicketkeeper (didn't bowl after that last over) and got run out by my partner, scoring about 7.

What a poser... Ally and I.
All in all, a good day out.

The World according to Valkenburg

As if Facebook, gmail and hotseminakedswedishblondes.com weren't taking up enough of my time, now I'm writing a blog!

Oh well - it just goes to show - any idiot can write a blog.
