oct - coldplay and jane and patrick

Cath got a ticket for Coldplay from our neighbours, Robin and Helen. I wasn't really up for that so she went along with them to Cape Town Stadium - the World Cup stadium in Greenpoint.

Apparently it was... okay. The sound wasn't too good or something... I can't remember.

Cath with Rob.

We also went to Cath's cousin Jane's wedding. She was marrying Patrick - a great oke.
Their first dance, well everything really, was stunning.

The family at the wedding... preggie cath in pink, me at the back, Aunty Eileen, Cath's mom, Cath uncles at back, Aunty Emma and Delano.

Break a leg

You may have heard, little Emma broke her leg in October...

She fell off the slide at playschool, we don't really know how it happened, but we arrived to pick her up and it had obviously just happened... she was in the reception area with ice on her leg and there was a nasty bump.

We took her off for X-rays and it was confirmed - both bones in her lower leg - the tibia and fibula were snapped in two. One of them was basically in a V shape. I nearly puked when I saw the X-ray myself.
My poor little baby - being so brave while that is going on inside her!

So she got a temporary cast and we got the name of an orphapeadic surgeon guy to go to the next day...

In the meantime though, life had to go on as normal... although Emma is always a bit of a pain when she's sick or hurt... she wasn't so bad though (time deletes the bad memories).

The doctor scheduled us in for theatre the next day... she had to go under general, cos her leg needed to be set... too hectic to do with a consious patient. so Emz was in this cast for two days (no doubt in pain) before she was eventually sorted out.

Operating day... the patient was sore but excited.

But Mom, and let's be honest here, looked like a dork.
Only one parent was allowed through. Cath took the honours... I said I couldn't handle it if she was put in pain. Cath is cold-hearted, so no prob for her.

But I did get a cuddle first. Had to take advantage of her cuddle-ability while I could.

Before and after surgery....

Ah, this is the life.. being wheeled around, free food.

Checking out...

Being waited on hand and foot.

And a moerse groin to toe cast to deal with for, we were originally told, six weeks.
It was one of the worst breaks the doctor had seen in a child. So he said six weeks.
It ended up being four weeks though.

She's all better now though.

A Baptism and lunch in Fish Hoek

My cousin came back from New Zealand to get their child baptised with all the family and we cracked the nod to attend it and the lunch there-after.

Twas quite low-key and chilled. We sat around while the deacon spoke quite sweetly re family, etc.

Then back to their place on the mountainside...

And ice creams for everyone! (well, not me... bah humbug!)

This is Emma's fakey smile... her camera face. Shame, she's trying hard...

When my lil one saw another lil one without her pants, she was up for that....

But things escalated...

But they're cute when they're naked, so who really cares...

oct - swim at the gym

We love taking lil Emma to the gym for a swim... and she loves it too...
But those jumps in from the side of the pool can be a bit scary....
READY...

STEADY...

GO!

KASPLOOSHY!

What great fun. and then...

"Again!"

But all the excitement was a bit much for her. because it's only a five-odd minute drive home and she didn't make it...

Aquarium trip 2 (October)

Clearly we don't let Emma watch enough TV, cos she had no idea what these "Nemo" fish are all about.
But they look cool, so she was a bit interested...

The touch pool is always more up her alley though... touching starfish, etc...

And the puppet show is the BEST! Her cousins REALLY enjoy it, but she got in the spirit in the end...

oct - Barney!

Blue Bear was cute, but Emma was scared of him quite frankly.
And we weren't there for him.
We got free tickets to a kids' expo at the CTICC and went along to give Emma a surprise....

And she got one. Now I was in tears I was crying so much at this... what happened? I'll tell you.
Let me say this first though... I have NEVER seen Emma move this fast.

She loves Barney okay, don't ask me how, but they must obviously show them videos at school cos the closest we've come to feeding this love is by buying her a pink Barney toothbrush.

So we're having a merry ol time, when the girl on stage says we've got a special guest for you....

Yes...?

It's Barney!

And just like that Emma was gone.
Let me stress, we were in row 12, 10 seats from the aisle. But she did not let that stop her...
note below...

And she went to worship at the altar of Barney...
Shame man, she really wanted to get to him, but was baricaded out.

So she just came back to dad's lap to watch the show.
Great excitement!
